I Support BC Black History Awareness Society
BCBHAS was formed in 1994 to celebrate the achievements of Black people in British Columbia. For over 30 years the Society’s volunteers have created an awareness of the history of Black people in BC, stimulating interest in the contributions of persons of African ancestry to BC and Canada today. Our activities, programs, exhibits, and learning materials have grown in recent years, so we’ve added staff and a community centre to keep pace with the needs. Our work has just begun.
BC Black History Awareness Society has always depended on you, the public, to support programs and events during Black History Month and year-round. Your donations support many different accomplishments. Your support is more important now than ever.
Our work encompasses education, publications, exhibits, past and present history, research, immigration, culture, performance, sports, government, community centre, community partnerships, heritage conservation, identity, belonging, inclusion, equity, anti-racism, Black veterans, Black entrepreneurs, and so much more. Our activities and programs are focused on youth, seniors, and everybody in between.
Please give what you can, if you can, to support this work. Your generosity helps the entire community.
